Touch Screen Shipments Exceed 600 Million in 2009 May 19, 2010

Total touch screen shipments increased 29% year over year in 2009, reaching 606 million units according to a report form DisplaySearch.

Projected capacitive shipments increased substantially. The technology is used in popular applications such as the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch since 2007 and is used on the recently launched iPad. DisplaySearch forecasts that projected capacitive will overtake resistive touch technology to become the leading touch technology in 2010 (measured by revenues).
