Amazon holds onto the top spot as the biggest online retailer with a 27.9% increase in web sales in 2009, according to the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide from Internet Retailer.
Other retailers in the Internet Top 10, based on Internet Retailer's estimates of internet sales: Staples, Dell, Apple, Office Depot, Walmart, OfficeMax, Sears, CDW Corp., and Best Buy. Internet Retailer reported that the combined sales of the Top 10 increased 14.3%, from $53.5 billion in 2008 to $61.2 billion in 2009.
Sales by the Top 10 internet merchants accounted for 45% of all U.S. e-commerce sales (totaling $134.9 billion) compared to 40% of $132.3 billion in 2008.
