Several power tool and outdoor power equipment categories showed signs of clear recovery in the latest 12-month period, ending March 31, 2010, according to market research firm NPD Group. Some categories are experiencing double digit dollar sales increases.
NPD reported that, comparing the 1-year period of April 2009 through March 2010 to the period of April 2008 through March 2009:
• Electric Saw sales were up 9.8%
• Drills were up 14.8%
• Sanders were up 21.2%
• Leaf Blower were up 22.1%
• Pressure Washer were up 14.9%
• Walk Behind Mowers were up 37.3%
• Trimmers were up 9.0%
