U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 5.9 billion lb in February 2010, up 7.0% over Feb. 2009 according to statistics from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 12.1 billion pounds, up 8.3% over the same period in 2009.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 5.8 billion lb in Feb. 2010, an increase of 7.5% from the same month in 2009. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 12.1 billion lb, an 8.3% increase compared to the same period in 2009.

The production and sales statistics are based on data for selected major plastics materials compiled by Veris Consulting, LLC, for ACC’s Plastics Industry Producers’ Statistics Group.
