North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue visited the Huntington Beach, CA headquarters of BSH Home Appliances Corp., North America in March to discuss opportunities for continuing the economic and environmental contributions of BSH’s manufacturing campus in New Bern, NC. Perdue met with BSH Chief Financial Officer Stefan Koss and Kathy Klein, director of human resources.
Koss said the discussion, "Focused on Bosch marketing and product development efforts that will bolster manufacturing in New Bern and the impact this will have on jobs and the state’s economic health."
BSH has invested more than $200 million in its New Bern appliance park in the last decade and now produces washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, and cooktops at the site.
Bosch said that producing appliances for the North American market in New Bern advances the company's sustainable manufacturing goals by eliminating the pollution caused by ocean shipping and by operating the site under environmental standards that have earned it the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 certification.
