Inflation Drops Slightly in February In OECD Area Mar 30, 2010

Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 1.9% in the year to February 2010, down from 2.1% in January, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development reported today. This small decrease in inflation rates mainly reflected the slowing of energy price increases. Energy increased 8.4% in February, compared to 10.6% in January.

Consumer prices for food in the OECD area fell by 0.3% in the year to February 2010, following a fall of 0.7% in January.

Excluding food and energy, consumer prices rose by 1.5% in the year to February 2010, down from 1.6% in January.
