Whirlpool Makes Ottawa, OH an Official Manufacturing Site Mar 26, 2010

Whirlpool said today that the former W.C. Wood manufacturing site in Ottawa, OH, U.S. will become an official Whirlpool Corp. manufacturing site effective May 3, 2010, with 190 full-time employees. This decision came after Whirlpool conducted an internal strategic study to evaluate freezer manufacturing sites. Whirlpool bought the plant when W.C. Wood declared bankruptcy in 2009.

Alan Holaday, Whirlpool's vice president, manufacturing operations, North America Region, said the facility could manufacture products under the various Whirlpool brand names "at globally competitive cost and quality levels,"

State officials made some preliminary financial assistance commitments to Whirlpool, and these commitments are expected to be approved by the state of Ohio on Apr. 26, 2010.
