Osaka, Japan-based Sharp Corporation has voluntarily recalled about 975,000 refrigerators in Japan.

The recall involves 48 models whose doors may come off if an object such as a small glass bottle gets stuck between the main unit and the door.

The recall follows four injuries between 2006 and 2009 and targets machines manufactured between 1996 and 2001, Sharp said. The precautionary measure includes the free replacement, if necessary, of related parts such as hinges. All 48 models have the letters ‘‘SJ’’ at the beginning of their model numbers, Sharp said.
