Haier Aims to Double Overseas Sales Jan 6, 2010

Chinese appliance maker Haier Group's global revenue increased around 10% in 2009, driven by surging sales in rural China and steady growth in international markets, a senior executive said Tuesday.

In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, Zhang Tieyan, chief executive of Haier's Asia-Pacific operations outside of China, reiterated the company's longstanding target for overseas sales to eventually reach two-thirds of total revenue, saying this may be achievable in three to five years.

According to Reuters report, some 30 percent of Haier’s revenue was earned abroad in 2009, which means the company will have to double its sales in order to reach its target.
