Best Buy Co. said its 3Q 2009 profit more than quadrupled, with net income rising to US$227 million from $52 million last year. Revenue rose 5% to $12.02 billion, from $11.5 billion last year. U.S. sales increased 9%; international sales decreased 6%. Sales in stores open at least 14 months rose 1.7%.
It said that sales of appliances, notebook computers, flat panel televisions, and mobile phones were strong, while sales of games, movies, and music were weaker.
