The Association of Home Appliance Manufactures (AHAM) is participating in the third annual U.S./China product safety summit.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Director, Office of International Programs and Intergovernmental Affairs, selected (AHAM) as a "stakeholder" participant to accompany the CPSC delegation to 3rd Biennial United States–China Consumer Product Safety Summit in Wuxi, Shanghai, and Beijing, China, Oct. 21‐26. The delegation will be led by CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum.
Wayne Morris, AHAM’s Vice President of Division Services, and other members of the delegation, will provide input to CPSC and the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine (AQSIQ) as they identify and discuss measures to ensure that U.S. importers and Chinese suppliers establish a comprehensive and systemic approach to preventing and detecting safety hazards in consumer products. The summit agenda also includes discussions of product safety issues, such as Chinese drywall, lead in children’s products, ATVs, and other items where specific progress can be made. The visit will include factory tours.
Others selected to participate represent Mattel, JC Penny, the Toy Industry Association,
American Fireworks Association, and other testing groups as ACT Lab, SGS U.S. Testing, Intertek,
Bureau Veritas, TUV Rhineland, and Underwriters Laboratories.
