Electrolux announced that it will close its vacuum production plant in Webster City, IA, U.S., eliminating nearly 85 jobs.
Company officials said that production of its Central Vacuum Systems will move to a plant in Juarez, Mexico. The move will consolidate all vacuum manufacturing in one location. The move will be done in stages and should be complete by the end of 2009.
Officials say about 40 jobs in headquarters sales and administrative staff and the company's major appliance laundry facility in Webster City are not affected by the move.
