Samsung Will Invest $4.4 Billion in Green Technology

Samsung Electronics Co. (Seoul) said today it will launch a multiyear project to develop more environmentally friendly products and to cut emissions from its facilities. Samsung plans to spend 5.4 trillion Korean won (approx. US$4.4 billion) total. About 3.1 trillion won (approx. US$2.5 billion) will be spent on product development and R&D efforts to cut the environmental impact of Samsung appliances and consumer electronics. The rest of the investment will go toward cutting in half greenhouse gas emissions from Samsung plants by 2013.
