Total April exports from the United States were $121.1 billion and imports were $150.3 billion, resulting in a goods and services deficit of $29.2 billion, up from $28.5 billion in March (March numbers were revised). In April, the goods deficit increased $0.9 billion from March to $40.1 billion, and the services surplus increased $0.2 billion to $10.9 billion.

The report on the U.S. international trade in goods and services comes from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, reporting through the Department of Commerce.

The Alliance for American Manufacturing's Executive Director Scott Paul said in a statement, "Our trade problem can be summarized in one word: China."
