Corning to Receive Awards May 29, 2009

Corning Inc. will receive two industry awards during Display Week 2009, the annual conference of the Society for Information Display (SID).

Corning’s Jade glass for advanced display is a winner in the 2009 Display of the Year Awards (DYA), which recognize innovative display products, components, and applications that hold the most promise for shaping the future of the global display industry.

Jade substrates are optimized for two display technologies — low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) applications and organic, light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) — to solve some of the challenges facing the mobile device industry.

This is the second time Corning has received a DYA award. The company’s environmentally friendly EAGLE XG substrates were similarly honored in 2007.

SID has also bestowed an industry honor on Corning’s Chief Technology Officer – East Asia, Dr. Peter L. Bocko. SID will recognize Dr. Bocko for his central role in delivering high-performance glass substrates for the display industry, including environmentally friendly display glass and substrates compatible with polysilicon backplanes for liquid crystal and organic, light-emitting displays.
