The Briggs & Stratton Corp. will receive an Environmental Stewardship Award from Orion Energy Systems Inc. on May 13 for the company's corporate and social environmental responsibility.
Briggs & Stratton says it has decreased its energy consumption by 9.4 million kilowatt-hours using Orion's high-intensity fluorescent technology. As a result of the energy reduction, Briggs and Stratton said it will decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 7448 metric tons every year. That frees enough electricity to power 937 homes a year, is the air-scrubbing equivalent of a 1536-acre forest, or equates to removing 1237 cars from the road, according to the company.
