Samsung Electronics America was named an award recipient for Excellence in Product Labeling from the U.S. EPA and DOE’s Energy Star program. In addition, Samsung has become an official member of the EPA’s SmartWay℠ Transport Partnership, as a shipping participant.

Samsung has been recognized for Excellence in Product Labeling as part of the Energy Star program, a joint initiative between the EPA and DOE to promote energy-saving products. The award recognizes important contributions to raising Energy Star visibility among consumers through consistent, high-profile placement of the Energy Star logo on select, energy-efficient products. The Awards for Excellence in Product Labeling are given to organizations to recognize their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in significant cost savings to consumers.

Samsung also became part of the SmartWay Partnership. SmartWay is an innovative partnership with the EPA that reduces greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, improves fuel efficiency, and recognizes partners for setting and achieving greenhouse gas reduction goals in freight transport. As a shipping partner, Samsung will:
• Determine the percentage of freight shipped (or received) by SmartWay Transport Partnership carriers
• Measure the greenhouse gas emissions of freight facility operations using EPA’s FLEET Performance Model -Shipper Module
• Increase the percentage of freight shipped (or received) with SmartWay Transport Partnership Carriers on the FLEET Performance Model, and identify a goal to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of freight facility operations
• Report progress toward achieving each of the goals to EPA annually.
