Days after announcing it will likely close its Wales washing machine manufacturing factory, Indesit said it will close its dishwasher plant in None (Turin), Italy. The company said that the facility's "production wasn’t competitive enough."
The plant makes free-standing and built-in dishwashers and employs around 600 workers. Last year, it produced 770,000 diswashers.
"Given significant growth in the dishwasher market, [we] made major investments over the last three years in both new products and plants. Despite such efforts, however, demand was drastically below forecast and [we are] convinced that continuing to manufacture at both None and Radomsko (Poland) is not a sustainable option," said a company statement.
