A. O. Smith Corp. announced that Dr. Wilfried Brouwer has joined the company to head its operations in Asia. Brouwer will succeed Michael Cole, who has announced plans to retire in the second quarter as senior vice president of Asia and president of A. O. Smith China Investment Company Ltd.
Brouwer will be responsible for the strategic direction of the company's business operations in Asia. A. O. Smith currently has five wholly owned manufacturing operations and one joint venture in China and a new water heater business in India. In addition, Brouwer will oversee business development activities throughout Asia.
Brouwer joins A. O. Smith from Akzo Nobel, manufacturer of paints, coatings, and specialty chemicals with headquarters in Amsterdam.
