Sanyo Issues Fourth Recall of Washer-Dryers Nov 20, 2008

Sanyo Electric Co. is recalling its Top Open Drum series of washer-dryers after four more accidents involving the products were reported to the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Sanyo has previously conducted three rounds of recalls of the washer-dryer line of products. It is rare for an electric appliance manufacturer to conduct four rounds of recalls for the same product.

Sanyo said it will recall 279,583 units of the top open drum-type washer-dryer for free repairs after finding that four of the products had caught fire or belched smoke.
