The winners of the 2008 Robotics Development Innovator Awards were announced at the RoboDevelopment Conference & Exposition. The awards recognize design and development tools, as well as component technology, used in the development of commercial robots and robotics technology.
The winners include:
Best Design or Development Tool Category: National Instruments for Compact RIO, a low-cost reconfigurable embedded control and acquisition system designed for applications that require high performance and reliability. The system combines an open embedded architecture with small size, extreme ruggedness, and hot-swappable industrial I/O modules. NI CompactRIO is powered by reconfigurable I/O (RIO) FPGA technology.
Best Component Technology Category: Evolution Robotics Inc., for NorthStar 2.0. The system is designed to provide robust navigation and position tracking capabilities for a variety of robotic enabled products.
