AAC Presents Awards for Anodizing Technology Nov 19, 2008

The Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) recently announced the 2008 Awards of Excellence for anodizing technology.

The Robert L. Kersman Award of Excellence for best paper at AAC's 2007 Anodizing Conference was awarded to David Whedon, technical and sales manager for AACOA, Inc. in Elkhart, IN, U.S., for his manuscript "New Etch Chemistry and Benefits," which examined a lab trial to determine whether a change in etch chemistry on a production line was justified.

The Donald I. Johnson Award for best presentation was awarded to Mark Jozefowicz of Reliant Aluminum Products, LLC in High Point, NC, U.S. for the paper, "Sealing for Alkali Resistance." Jozefowicz presented test data from a study on current methods of sealing, which, concluded that a two-step process consisting of a cold nickel fluoride followed by a hot nickel acetate bath was the preferred method for sealing anodized aluminum for maximum alkali resistance.
