The air-conditioner market in France has strongly decreased so far in 2008, according to market research firm GfK Retail and Technology. Portable air-conditioners, responsible for 69% of the market in unit terms, fell by almost one third between April and May 2008. During that period, sales represented just 19% of the total for the same period the previous year.
Shipments of fixed air-conditioners decreased by 19% and 17% in sales value. Shipments of multi-splits ACs decreased 17%, GfK said.
