Haier America is supporting the work of researcher Richard H. Maruya, inventor of a new refrigerant that does not contribute to global warming. "Haier is committed to supporting research for environmentally friendly technology," said Steve Milz, vice president of Engineering and Product Management for Major Appliances at Haier. "By working with innovators like Maruya, we hope to continue to be a leader in creating and providing green products for today's earth-minded consumer."
Haier congratulates Maruya on his 2007 Environmental Achievement Award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an award recognizing those "who have made a significant contribution towards enhancing and protecting the quality of our environment." Initially put in contact with Maruya through Greenpeace International, Haier's team of refrigerator engineers have been providing information and product to support his research efforts. Additionally, Haier will help Maruya provide supporting data to the EPA, often an arduous task for an inventor. Back
