Sharp Electronics announced the appointment of Daisuke (Doug) Koshima to chairman and CEO. He replaces Toshihiko Fujimoto, who will be transferring to a new assignment as general manager for strategic planning with the international business group of Sharp Corp., Japan.
Koshima has spent 37 years with Sharp, most recently as corporate director and group general manager of the international business group. Prior to that he served as a senior executive VP in the consumer electronics group at Sharp Electronics (U.S.), from 1996 until 2001. He has also held positions as managing director of Sharp Electronics (U.K.) Ltd. and president of Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd.
