The Miele S 5280 Callisto canister and S 163 Universal upright vacuum cleaners were recently rated as a Best Buy by Consumers Digest magazine. 

Callisto (S 5280) has an electric powerbrush and parquet floor brush and is recommended for medium to high pile carpets and smooth floors. It has a 1200-watt, high-output, Miele-made Vortex Motor System and a parquet floor tool with horsehair and synthetic bristles that are specifically engineered to collect dust and dirt better. 

The S163 Universal Upright is recommended for apartments, dorms, yachts, campers, and quick pickups. It can be assembled in a wide variety of configurations from hand-held to an extended wand. A 1000-watt motor provides full size power in a hand held vacuum. Tools can be held onboard with a caddy for convenience.
