Hitachi is pulling out of Australia's consumer electronics market. The decision means Hitachi products such as flat-panel televisions, camcorders and other audio-visual equipment will disappear from shelves at the end of next month. Sales of Hitachi LCD and plasma panels, DVD, and hard drive camcorders as well as DVD players and recorders will cease on February 29. Hitachi whitegoods will also be removed from the Australian market at the same time.

However, the company will continue to sell air-conditioning, industrial products, and electronic components in Australia. (Heraldcom.sun.au)
