Bed Bath & Beyond Predicts Lower 4Q Profit and Sales Jan 4, 2008

Retailer Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. predicted same-store sales would be flat in the fourth quarter. The company also projected income of US$0.64 to $0.67 per share in the fourth quarter, which ends March 1.

The retailer said its prediction was based partly on an expectation that same-store sales would be flat during the quarter. Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, is a key measure of retailer performance because it measures sales at existing stores rather than newly opened ones.
