Philips Electronics filed a lawsuit accusing Procter & Gamble Co. and its Braun division of false and misleading advertising concerning promotion for Pulsonic electric shavers.
In the suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Philips disputed Procter & Gamble's contention that Pulsonic uses sonic power to generate microvibrations to expose and shave more hair. Philips noted that a Connecticut federal court rejected similar claims by Gillette Co., now part of Procter & Gamble. The lawsuit also disputes Braun's claim that nine out of 10 men polled in a 2007 Men's Health survey voted Pulsonic the "best electric shaver they have ever tried." Philips said the survey was actually a sweepstakes in which Braun gave participants free Pulsonic shavers. (AP)
