Arçelik to Increase China Washing Machine Plant Capacity Dec 10, 2007

Arçelik is planning to expand the capacity of its washing machine factory in China and increase exports to the United States. The facility is in the Changzhou region, 189 km. (approx. 117 miles) from Shanghai.

Arçelik started production at its China plant recently after buying Shanghai-based Changzhou Casa Shinco Electrical Appliances Co. Ltd. for US$8 million in July. Arçelik opened the production facility after it had registered the company name as BEKO Electrical Appliances Co. Ltd. and renewed the company with additional investments worth $2 million. The factory has an annual capacity of 200,000 units. Arçelik will increase the annual capacity to 1 million units, and expects sales in China will be about  €100 million (approx. $146 million) this year.
