Global HVAC OEM Lennox International Inc. started the year with the announcement that Chairman John Norris would soon retire. Norris had been with Lennox since 1960 and spent decades with the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI), including serving as ARI chairman in 1986. Richard L. Thompson, Lennox vice chairman, was elected to take the chairman's position when Norris stepped down in July.

Global HVAC OEM Lennox International Inc. reported record third-quarter revenue of U.S. $1 billion, a 9-percent increase over the prior year. "We are pleased to report solid third quarter results after anticipating challenging year-over-year comparisons for the second half of 2006," said LII CEO Bob Schjerven. Schjerven himself announced his plan to retire in 2007. LII made several new appointments during the year.

Lennox also intrduced what it said was the first whole-house dehumidification system, the Humiditrol. According to Lennox, the system significantly outperforms conventional dehumidifiers, and is capable of removing as much as three times more moisture while consuming less energy and without negatively impacting temperature.
