Personal care appliance maker Helen of Troy Limited, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new distribution center in Southaven, Mississippi, U.S., just before Christmas in 2005. The center expanded the company's eastern U.S. distribution facilities to accommodate the needs of the company's OXO International business, acquired in 2004, as well as potential needs for future acquisitions.
A few months later, at the 2006 International Home and Housewares Show, Helen of Troy announced a new product line-up that included more than 110 new personal care and household consumer products.
Helen of Troy's Latest 2006 Sales
In October, the company reported results for the second quarter ended Aug. 31, 2006. Second quarter sales increased 12.9 percent to U.S. $147.2 million versus sales of $130.4 million in the same period of the prior year. Second quarter net earnings were $10.9 million or $0.35 per fully diluted share, compared with $9.5 million or $0.30 per fully diluted share for the same period a year earlier, an increase in earnings per share of 16.7 percent.
Sales for the 6 months ended Aug. 31, 2006, increased 7.7 percent to $277.6 million versus $257.8 million for the previous year. Net earnings for the first half of this year were $17.6 million or $0.56 per diluted share, versus $19.9 million, or $0.63 per diluted share in the same period of last year.
