Gateway, Inc., lost its CEO in February and Rick Snyder, a former Gateway president and COO and current chairman and long-time director, was named interim chief executive. Snyder's temporary job lasted until J. Edward Coleman came aboard as the new CEO on Sept. 18, 2006.

In the third quarter of 2006, Gateway opened a new configure-to-order assembly facility in Nashville, Tennessee and opened a new Best Practices Tech Support Center in North Sioux City, South Dakota. A new line of configure-to-order servers was announced, and Gateway plans to build configure-to-order desktops and notebooks at the facility.
