Entries are being accepted for the Fifth Annual Housewares Design Awards, to be presented Feb. 6, 2008.
The 2008 Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business with the educational support of the International Housewares Association.
Products are to be honored in 13 categories: Floor Care Electrics; Home Environment Electrics; Personal Care, Health Care & Garment Care; Cooking Electrics; Food Preparation Electrics; Furniture; Lighting, Home Décor & Outdoor Living; Cookware & Bakeware; Countertop Kitchenware & Barware; Kitchen Hand Tools; Cutlery; Tabletop; and Home Organization, Laundry Care & Non-Electric Cleaning Products.
The IHA will coordinate the product design judging with a multi-disciplinary jury including designers and retail merchandisers. Housewares Design Awards nominees will be chosen based on design believed to differentiate a product with unique appearance and/or function. The judges will consider appropriate aesthetics; innovative materials and technology, user benefits (i.e. performance, comfort, ease of use, safety) and market response.
Products eligible for this year’s design competition must be introduced to the marketplace between Oct. 1, 2006, and Sept. 30, 2007. The deadline for entries is Oct. 26, 2007.
Judges will select five finalists and “Best in Category” winners in each of the 13 categories. Finalists will be notified by IHA, and “Best in Category” selections will be revealed and presented during the awards luncheon in February.
