The number of air-conditioning OEMs in China continues to dwindle in an environment of ongoing restructuring, with the total number of producers dropping from approximately 200 in December 2004 to about 150 currently, according to a new report from Global Sources. A report says competition, raw material costs, the challenge of meeting the EU RoHS directive, and anti-dumping investigations are all contributing to a shakeout of the industry in China. Still, the report says, export sales are growing at about 15 percent.Â
