The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will install Michelle F. Tortolani as its 45th president at a ceremony this week.

Michelle Tortolani, senior director of Repeater Engineering and Operations at XM Satellite Radio Inc.—a satellite radio broadcasting company headquartered in Washington, D.C.—has held numerous elected and appointed offices within SWE at the local, region, and national levels during her 20-year membership, most recently serving on the board of directors as president-elect, and previously serving as vice president of membership initiatives, director of professional development, and director of external affairs. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Boston University.
