Appliance manufacturer Miele & Cie. announced strong sales growth during the company's 2006/2007 business year that ended June 30, 2007. During the period, the Miele Group increased turnover by 8% to €2.74 billion (US$3.7 billion), compared to €2.54 billion ($3.4 billion) during the previous reporting period.
Unit sales of ovens, hob units, cooker hoods, steam cookers, microwave ovens and coffee machines, in particular, experienced double-digit growth. Miele said it sold more than 3 million major domestic appliances for the first time during the 2006/2007 business year, including 890,000 washing machines and around 385,000 tumble dryers. Dishwasher sales reached 600,000, and Miele vacuum sales reached more than €2 million ($2.7 million), or an increase of 117,000 units.
Miele said that it invested €177 million ($243 million) in the past business year compared with €135 million ($185 million) in the previous year, including investments of approximately €108 million ($148 million) in Germany.
