Dongbu Electronics today announced it has become the world’s first semiconductor foundry to earn the ISO 27001 certification for information security management. To earn this prestigious certification from the International Standardization Organization (ISO), Dongbu deployed a task force of approximately 70 teams over a five-month period to demonstrate compliance with 133 criteria across 11 major areas.
In demonstrating full ISO 27001 compliance, the Dongbu Electronics task force addressed 11 major areas including security policy, information security organization, asset management and telecommunications management as well as security incident management, a new area added to BS 7799, the existing and complementary international information protection standard. Accordingly, Dongbu is certified to have an international-level information protection management system to prevent leakage of advanced technology information and protect core information assets from various threats including external hacking.
All Dongbu Electronics employees regularly participate in security education sessions. In these sessions, employees are challenged to analyze potential vulnerabilities and formulate appropriate protection solutions. As such, continuous attention to information protection is given high priority across the entire enterprise.
