All the signals are that 2006 will prove to have been a good year for the logistics and goods handling sector: the latest forecast drafted by the studies office of ANIMA, the Federation of Italian Associations of Mechanical and Engineering Industries, states that the overall production in Italy for the year in progress comes out to over 1,488 million euro (approximately U.S. $1,870 million), up 3.7 percent on 2005 figures.
Quotas destined for export are also on the rise 5.7 percent, and are due to exceed 652 million euro (U.S. $817 million).
In greater detail, lifting and transportation systems and equipment should notch up a production increase of 3.1 percent, for a total value of 918 million euro (U.S. $1,150 million). With regards to export, an increase of 6.4 percent, 385 million euro (U.S. $482 million) is expected.
The same goes for self-moving industrial forklifts: production is expected step up 5 percent, settling at 438 million euro (U.S. $549 million); and exports are expected to step up 5.2 percent, ending at 193 million euro (U.S. $242 million).
The wheel sector is also on the rise: a production increase of 3 percent to 132.4 million euro (U.S. $165 million) is expected, along with an increase of the export quota equal to 3.6 percent, or 74.5 million euro (U.S. $ 92 million).
If the trend in these figures continues for the last part of the business year, they will provide further confidence to the thirteenth edition of Movint, the International Industrial and Mechanical Handling Exhibition, as well as the fourth edition of Expologistica, Exhibition of Integrated Means, Systems and Services for Logistics and Transport being held at the same time from May 9 to 12, 2007 at the Bologna exhibition center.
Movint-Expologisica is an exhibition event capable of meeting all the market’s needs: it puts national manufacturers into contact with larger international operators, and foreign production in contact with the best applicative opportunities available in Italy. The variety of products on show is considerable, and covers forklift trucks, lifting devices, warehouse systems, continuous transportation and weighing, industrial shelving, accessories and even engineering services for logistics and consultancy.
