The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers' (AHAM) won the Award of Excellence in the 2007 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards program. The national competition is sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership, Washington, D.C.
AHAM received the award for its ongoing Home Sweet Home appliance donation program, which provides home appliances to families rebuilding hurricane-damaged homes in the greater New Orleans area. The program is now in the running to receive a Summit Award, ASAE and The Center's top recognition for the associations programs, to be presented at ASAE's 8th Annual Summit Awards Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 25, 2007.
AHAM established Home Sweet Home in part as a way to commemorate its 40th anniversary milestone. AHAM and partner Gifts in Kind International will equip at least 40 greater New Orleans area families with a full suite of home appliances. Home Sweet Home works through the United Way of the Greater New Orleans area to supply families with appliances.
