The United Arab Emirates' largest trade show for appliances and consumer technology, Hometech Middle East, hosted 230 exhibiting companies last month—the largest number of exhibitors the show has ever seen. Held in mid-May at the Dubai International Convention Center and produced by Messe Frankfurt, Hometech Middle East 2007 was the largest in terms of overall growth, number of exhibiting companies, and exhibit space sold. Exhibitor growth increased more than 50% over the previous year's show. The event's footprint measured 52,000 sq ft of exhibit space.
"The consumer electronics industry in the Middle East marketplace continues to boom, providing incredible opportunities for companies looking to expand internationally," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the Hometech show's sponsor, in an issued statement. "CEA's partnership with Hometech Middle East paves a road for our members to explore new international business opportunities in this rapidly expanding economy and allows CEA to promote our tradeshow, the International CES, to an international audience."
