Matsushita Recalls 3 Million Appliances in Japan May 31, 2007

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., known for its Panasonic brand of consumer electronics and appliances, will recall 3 million appliances in Japan to address potential smoking and fire hazards.

The recall includes microwaves produced from December 1988 through December 1993, refrigerators made between February 1989 and October 1992, and clothes dryers made between August 1993 and December 2001. The clothes dryer recall includes dryers supplied to Mitsubishi Electric Corporation on an OEM basis.

The scope of the recall outside Japan and the cost of the recall have not been disclosed.
