Hitachi, Ltd. announced the company's new executive officer in accordance with a determination at a meeting of the Board of Directors. The appointment takes effect on Oct. 1, 2006. Stephen Gomersall will hold the new position of senior vice president and executive officer, chief executive for Europe. He is currently the chief executive for Europe.
