Indesit will likely close the Creda plant in the United Kingdom, where it makes cooking appliances. A BBC report said Indesit is discussing plans to close the cooker plant by the end of 2007, which would impact 600 workers in Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire. Like many other European appliance plants in recent years, production is destined to move east to lower-cost manufacturing centers such as Poland or Italy.  In the BBC report, Indesit said the Creda plant closure is only a proposal, but said production in the UK is not sustainable.
