Twelve percent of all EU-7 consumers have a home network, according to a Forrester Research report. This level represents growth of about 33 percent in the past year, and, for the first time, wireless technologies are driving this growth.

But the decline in interest among the wider population suggests that the current home networking technologies, with all their installation and reliability issues, have reached their adoption limits. Forrester says manufacturers and service providers need to evolve their offering to sustain the interest of technical consumers, attract new users and create a more supportive ecosystem.
