Aga Foodservice Group broke ground in Iowa on the new plant that will become the manufacturing home for Amana Commercial Products, the commercial microwave business that Aga purchased from Whirlpool Corporation in 2006. An Associated Press report said the new plant, located in Cedar Rapids, will cost U.S. $6 million to build and another $3 million to equip. The AP reports that the plant will be home to product design and development, in addition to manufacturing of Amana and Menumaster brand products.
For the time being, manufacturing remains in Whirlpool's plant in Amana, Iowa.
