According to the Bangkok Post, Electrolux (Thailand) Co. will double production at its Rayong laundry factory, with an investment of 600 million baht (approx. U.S. $18.5 million). Total production of laundry systems, including washing machines and dryers, is expected to increase to 300,000 units in the fourth quarter of 2007.

The expansion is in response to increased demand in both the domestic and export markets, which is said to increase by 20 percent per year. Currently, 15 to 20 percent of the factory’s total capacity serves the local market, while 75 to 80 percent is exported to mainly Southeast Asian countries, reports the Bangkok Post.

Besides this investment in production capacity, the company plans to invest another 100 million baht (approx. $3 million) to advertising, said the Bangkok Post.
