GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd., China's largest electrical appliance retailer by revenue, said its first-half net profit rose 45 percent on contributions from newly opened stores, despite fierce competition in the country.

Hong Kong-listed GOME said its net profit for the six months ended June 30 was 345 million Chinese yuan (U.S. $43.2 million; euro33.6 million), up from 238 million yuan in the same period last year.
