Enodis is among the first foodservice equipment manufacturers to join the U.S. Green Building Council, a coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy. The organization’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Enodis Enerlogic products can contribute to certification of buildings in the LEED system.

A variety of Enodis operating companies are working actively with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program. Enodis websites feature Energy Star savings calculators to help operators plan energy savings. Enodis is also supporting establishment of voluntary standards for energy and resource consumption in a broader selection of food equipment categories. Enodis is supporting new standards in griddles, ice machines, ovens, and warewashers, and raising existing standards in commercial refrigeration.

In the UK, the company is working to gain approval for various refrigeration units in the government’s enhanced capital allowance scheme. Under this program, new equipment meeting efficiency standards would qualify for favorable tax allowances.

The company reports that its efforts are having impact throughout the industry, too. In February, leading global consultants attended a one-day workshop on Energy Saving at Enodis ETC. The program was certified for continuing education credits by the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI). Enodis representatives also have been invited to participate in "Go Green" workshops and panel discussions at numerous upcoming industry events, including the Edison Electric Institute, the FCSI Annual Conference, and the NAFEM trade show.

To qualify for the Enodis Enerlogic seal, products must meet independent standards for energy-saving performance, with that performance verified through audited testing. Among the standards used to determine Enodis Enerlogic status are those published by EPA Energy Star, California Energy Commission, California utilities, and a variety of other voluntary standards.
