The Bosch Power Tool division remains on its growth course. Sales of power tools, accessories, garden tools, and measuring tools grew 6 percent to 2.8 billion euros (approx. U.S. $3.7 billion) in 2006. 90 percent of these sales were generated outside Germany. The key growth regions included Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America, with Bosch Power Tools posting double-digit growth in each of these regions. In the professional power tools segment, the company also recorded double-digit growth worldwide for the third year in a row.

The global market for power tools grew 3 percent in 2006 to a total volume of about 8 billion euros (approx. $10.6 billion). For the first time in five years, the markets of Western Europe posted above-average growth—4 percent in total. The workforce of Bosch Power Tools grew in 2006 to 14,500, from roughly 14,000 in the previous year. New jobs were created mainly in Eastern Europe and Asia. In Germany, the size of the workforce remained stable despite the difficult global competitive situation.

For the year 2007, Bosch again expects the global market for power tools to grow in value terms by 3 percent on average. Economic activity remains buoyant particularly in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. In the U.S. market, on the other hand, the slowdown in the construction industry continues to have a noticeable impact.
